I create short films that blend digital footage, field recordings and analogue materials.
Born in Croydon, I have spent my life living in South East London, within the shadow landscape of the Great North Wood, an ancient woodland that once stretched from Croydon to the Thames at Deptford.
My work explores my immediate environment and for many years was rooted in Deptford, where I lived until recently. For nearly a decade I lived as a property guardian in a former school. During this time, the playground surrounding me evolved into a space reclaimed by plants and wildlife – a transformation that ended when the site was cleared for commercial use.
Living closely among plants, birds, animals, and insects, I developed an intimacy with the playground ecosystem through being embedded within it. I am currently working on a new film that draws on my experience of living there, reflecting on themes of domesticity, multi-species co-habitation, ‘weeds’, and housing.
